Senior Moves
Moving & Your Senior Loved One
Whether simplifying a living situation or seeking a supportive assisted community, moving an elderly loved one opens a new chapter filled with opportunities for connection, safety, and comfort.
At this stage, it’s important to preserve cherished items that will make the new space feel like home, while also carefully downsizing belongings that won’t fit in the new space.
While it’s natural to want to be involved in every aspect of your loved one’s relocation, The deep connections we have with our elderly family members can make the logistics of moving feel even more challenging.
Working with a professional not personally or emotionally invested—can be highly beneficial.

Downsizing
Downsizing is a big job—emotionally and logistically. It often involves tough decisions and can be especially challenging when multiple family members are involved. Our downsizing services for seniors provide compassionate, hands-on support to sort, organize, and decide what to keep, donate, or pass along. We typically work with the family member overseeing the move, though we often support the senior directly as well. Our goal is to help create a new home that feels manageable and comfortable, while still honoring cherished memories.
If you elect to add downsizing to your package, we’ll be able to give you a clearer estimate for this service after an on site evaluation.
FAQ | Seniors
-
Yes, please!
Unlike when we help other clients, it is necessary for the loved on of a senior to be present on site. (If not the contract holder, than a trusted adult loved one/ caregiver ) This is especially important if said senior has any mobility, memory, or assisted care needs.
-
It's a delicate process that grows from good communication.
We work closely with the senior and their family to prioritize essential and meaningful items. Our approach includes categorizing belongings into keep, donate, sell, or discard, always respecting personal preferences and emotional attachments.
We provide support and opinion based on space constraints in the new space, but do not view our word as gospel and not there to say NO to items that are beloved.
-
The timeline for downsizing varies depending on the size of the home and the amount of belongings.
We’ll work with you to create a schedule that fits your needs, ensuring that the process is thorough yet efficient.
-
We can help facilitate the donation of most items to local charities.
We are not able to facilitate the sale, relocation or appraisal of antiques or family heirlooms.
