Moving Your Senior Loved One

Thank you for everything you did to make my mother in law’s move a smooth transition and to welcome her so warmly into her new place. Yesterday was a lot for her & having the place already set up helped so much.

Assisted Living Transition
The deep connections we have with our elderly family members can make the logistics of moving feel even more challenging.
While it’s natural to want to be involved in every aspect of your loved one’s relocation, there are compelling reasons why having a third party—someone not personally or emotionally invested—can be highly beneficial.
“This place is beyond anything I could have ever imagined it could be. He loves it. Thank you - thank you from the bottom of my heart. “

Transitioning to an independent or assisted living is a significant step for our older loved ones.
Whether simplifying a living situation or seeking a supportive assisted community, moving an elderly loved one opens a new chapter filled with opportunities for connection, safety, and comfort. At this stage, it’s important to preserve cherished items that will make the new space feel like home, while also carefully downsizing belongings that won’t fit in the new environment.

FAQ | Seniors
-
Yes, please!
Unlike when we help other clients, it is necessary for the loved on of a senior to be present on site. (If not the contract holder, than a trusted adult loved one/ caregiver ) This is especially important if said senior has any mobility, memory, or assisted care needs.
-
It's a delicate process that grows from good communication.
We work closely with the senior and their family to prioritize essential and meaningful items. Our approach includes categorizing belongings into keep, donate, sell, or discard, always respecting personal preferences and emotional attachments.
We provide support and opinion based on space constraints in the new space, but do not view our word as gospel and not there to say NO to items that are beloved.
-
The timeline for downsizing varies depending on the size of the home and the amount of belongings.
We’ll work with you to create a schedule that fits your needs, ensuring that the process is thorough yet efficient.
-
We can help facilitate the donation of most items to local charities.
We are not able to facilitate the sale, relocation or appraisal of antiques or family heirlooms.

For Senior Residential Community Moves
Keep in mind: We will need access to your senior’s new residence several weeks prior to their move in date so that the space can be fully prepared before they arrive. Lead time will be less if new furniture is not being purchased.
